Making The Grade: 13 Companies Make the Semifinalist Round for the 2018 Prime Health Challenge

Jun 13, 2018 | No Category

After an in-depth review by over forty business, community health and hospital leaders, Prime Health, the country’s leading health innovation ecosystem, is excited to announce that thirteen companies have been selected to move forward in the 5th Annual Prime Health Challenge.

The Prime Health Challenge and evaluation process are helping to drive meaningful collaborations between entrepreneurs and Colorado healthcare systems.  Applicants from around the country were assessed by industry leaders based on their social and health impact, market-readiness, and business models.   With support from the Colorado Health Foundation, the community is in a unique position to improve healthcare not only in Colorado but across the country.

The 3-month process of mentorship will culminate in a live, shark-tank style event where finalists will get a chance to pitch their products in front of an audience of healthcare leaders and potential customers on October 11th at the EXDO Event Center in RiNo Denver.  Winners will be awarded a share of the $150,000 prize and the opportunity to pilot their solutions with Colorado Safety Net healthcare organizations.

“The Colorado Health Foundation aims to engage innovations that help safety net providers, particularly those in rural communities across Colorado, to offer culturally competent, high-quality and comprehensive primary care, behavioral and/or social services,” explained Ben Bynum, M.D., Portfolio Director of Program Related Investments at the Foundation.  “Collaborative partnerships with organizations like Prime Health help us to scale our mission and impact across the State.”

Michael Archuleta, Chief Information Officer at Mt. San Rafael Hospital, a host institution for the Challenge, said, “Digital Health Innovation starts with Collaboration! We must leave our egos at the door, and move the healthcare industry forward, and together! As Henry Ford would quote, “Coming together is a beginning, keeping together is progress, and working together is success!” With proper collaboration we can work together to transform healthcare!”

This year’s semifinalists highlight the unique needs of Colorado’s underserved populations and the vast opportunities that exist for entrepreneurs to develop, pilot and innovate health technology solutions.
